The reason hypnotherapy works so well with IBS is that the simple fact that the client relaxes and let's go of excess tensions increases the blood circulation to the gun and in fact the entire body. Stress tends to inhibit this normal flow of blood to the area and cause extra stress, tension and pain. Along with some pain management techniques and teaching the client to replicate the work done clinically by teaching them to use the Renaissance self-hypnosis method I have developed the client can maintain his new found comfort. This more relaxed client can then start noticing an improved digestion and an easier movement of food through the bowel. It is still advisable for the client to keep consulting his physician even after all symptoms have subsided of course as you would any condition when the symptoms disappear but it would be as important to maintain a low stress level and a healthy diet to avoid the symptoms from returning or for other stress related conditions to develop.
On top of maintaining a healthy stress level and diet, regular exercise as well as a multitude of relaxation techniques can help. From Yoga and Tai-chi to a simple hobby, keeping stress low will always benefit your overall health.
